On August 12, 2021, USCIS announced that it temporarily extends Form I-693 validity from two years to four years due to COVID-19 related delays, effective on the same day.
Previously, Form I-693 remained valid for two years. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on USCIS processing delays and applicants’ ability to immigration medical screening, USCIS now extents the validity of Form I-693 to four years if applicants filed adjustment of status within 60 days of the civil surgeon’s signature and the decision on Form I-485 is issued on or before September 30, 2021.
USCIS also noted that it has prioritized employment-based adjustment of status this fiscal year. It will continue to increase the pace of adjudications and limit the potential non-use of employment-based visas. To help avoid adjudication delays, USCIS also appeal to applicants to file Form I-693 together with Form I-485 to eliminate the need for issuing Request for Evidence (RFE).
